A chance meeting while both working in White’s Hotel in Wexford, was to lead Tony (Lead Singer and Director) and Bobby (Ex-member and now Director) to be involved in the Guinness Singing and Swinging Pubs competition during Wexford Opera Festival. This was the nucleus of what was to become Blue Moose.

From this point, the two like minds had a plan. To start a covers band, to rival those that impressed them so much, stuffing crowds into their local haunts of Mooney’s Bar and the Viking in Wexford Town.

That they did, and it wasn’t long after that they got the opportunity to bring the act to Spain, honing their skill, in the “sink or swim” environment that is resort entertainment. 5 hours a night, 7 nights a week, for 5 months, in Santa Ponsa. But it was a blast and it was decided on their return….let’s do this, fulltime, in Ireland.

The band began to tour Ireland and around this time did two tours of Scandinavia. It was also around then that the name Blue Moose was born!

Blue Moose spent many years touring pubs and clubs all over Ireland. They were extremely popular on the college circuit where many of their subsequent wedding clients met! They flirted with the original scene with their outfit Sonic Vista, that culminated in a performance at Witnness!

They also toured the UK extensively, playing over 45 UK towns and cites with Walkabout Inns, multiple Irish venues in London and performances in all Butlin’s Resorts, garnering a residency with Bultin’s Boger Regis for a summer season.

Blue Moose never started a wedding band, that kinda just happened. But you can see why! They had built up quite the fanbase and were approached to play weddings under the expectation that the couples didn’t want a typical wedding band, they wanted Blue Moose.

This was then refined to what Blue Moose are today. Professionals that know how not to have a “typical wedding band” while at the same time, meeting all the expectations of wedding entertainment.
